What is the I Ching?
The I Ching is an ancient oracle that emerged in China. Its principle's were developed circa 2800 BCE.  "I Ching" has been traditionally translated to mean "Book of Changes," but is now better understood to mean "Book of Transformation".  Although the difference may appear to be insignificant. Change is a principle of the human ego that that is a forceful principle. Transformation is a genuine shift in our consciousness that allows us to act clearly with our whole being.
An example of this difference is clearly seen when a person attempts to change a habit by forcing themselves to alter their behavior as oppsed to understanding and letting go of the root of the problem. The former creates a creates an inner struggle. Whearas the latter brings about transformation so that the person is naturally no longer compulsively driven to engage in the harmful behavior.  When we allow the I Ching to speak to our hearts the Cosmos can guide us to let go of our burdens.

The I Ching shows us which of our thoughts and actions are in harmony with the cosmos and which are coming from the ego. The ego is the primary source of the problems we encounter in life and has developed from using language incorrectly. The false use of language has led humankind to see themselves as superior to everything in the universe.
"The ego assumes that the natural order of things is chaos, to start with, whereas the I Ching teaches us that the natural order of things is harmony... It is the ego that has created the chaos and has projected the blame onto nature as the scapegoat... To return to the natural order of things means that the individual brings himself into the existing harmony of the Cosmic Whole."   (I Ching, 59 - 60)
How do you use the I Ching?
There is no absolute way to use the I Ching, but there are ways that are more helpful than others. One useful way to approach the I Ching is to pose a question about a difficulty one is faced with and would like clarity about. The text of the I Ching is divided into chapters, which are called hexagrams, and subchapters, which are called lines. Each hexagram and line addresses different aspects of our life and helps us to see those aspects with clarity. While one sincerely asks a question coins are thrown and the combination of how the coins land, as a result of our vibration, represents the hexagram that is most applicable to our current situation and our understanding of it. This process makes the text a living oracle that can be extremely helpful when approached with an open heart. No beliefs required. Realize what is true for you. The I Ching encourages a process of undoing our traditionally held beliefs so that we can realize what is true for us as individuals.
How is the I Ching different from Tarot Cards, or a psychic reading?
There can obviously be benefits from receiving a Tarot Card or psychic reading, but what is truely valuable about these readings is the insight and improved connection with the cosmos that is gained through them. I Ching sessions are not concerned with discovering what the future hold for us, but rather what is blocking our True self from existing harmoniously in this moment. A session with the I Ching requires that we be an active participant. There is a degree of openness and honestly needed to allow the Cosmos to help us discover the root causes of a perceived diffficulty. In this respect it is more like a counseling session. Once we learn how to use the I Ching, we may approach it as often as it is deemed necessary without the guidance of another person.  The oracle is used until we become more familiar with our feeling and heart consciousness, which can guide us through life with great ease.

Sessions are held at the Imagine Center in Tarzana, CA or in your home at the rate of $75.00 per hour.
